Uber Paid Hackers $100,000 To Cover Up 2016 Data Theft

Uber announced that personal information regarding 57 million of its riders and drivers was stolen in 2016. The company initially covered up the data theft by paying the hackers $100,000 in exchange for deleting their copy of the information.
