While the Android tablet market doesn’t seem to be very exciting these days, Chinese manufacturer Alldocube has announced a new tablet which looks pretty nice, yet fits into the low-cost category. The Alldocube X Tablet is launching in mid-August with an introductory price of $269.
The X Tablet features a 10.5-inch 2560x1600 Samsung AMOLED display, and the company states the display can cover 100% of the P3 D65 color space as well as offer HDR, and with the OLED it will offer excellent contrast as well.
The tablet is CNC aluminum, which should offer the premium in-hand feel you’d expect in a more expensive offering. The tablet measures 245x175x6.9 mm, which is slightly thinner than the base 9.7-inch iPad, but the Alldocube X is a bit heavier at 500 grams versus 469 grams on an iPad.
It features an older processor in the MediaTek MT8176, which was launched in 2016 as a 28nm design, and features two Cortex A72 cores and four Cortex A53 cores in a big.LITTLE configuration, with a maximum frequency of 2.1 GHz. The GPU is a PowerVR GX6250 at 600 MHz. The SoC is coupled with 4 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 64 GB of eMMC storage, with support for an additional 128 GB through microSD. There's also an AKM Hi-Fi chip for audio processing and improved sound.
The tablet will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo.
